WHAT IS MOVEMBER?

As we approach November, you may or may not have heard about the Movember movement – but you have probably seen it! Guys walking around with moustache ring a bell? That’s part of the fundraising efforts for the campaign. But what does it mean and what does it stand for?

Movember is actually a leading global charity that’s changing the face of male health. Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.

The charity exists to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives and focuses on three main causes: mental health and suicide prevention; testicular cancer and prostate cancer. Using funding to impact men’s health both locally and globally – the charity works closely with 20 health partners in 20 countries and has funded over 1250 projects to date. Growing a moustache (and getting sponsored for it) is just one of the many ways money is raised for this charity.

Thinking of giving Movember a go? Here are our top tips to get that tash on point this November!

First things first, it’s important to remember that it’s a bit more than just growing ‘it’…

You’ll need to decide what looks best on you – something that works with your current look or hairstyle… It needs careful maintenance and trimming – and of course the right products – just like your hair or beard, you have to look after it. Once you’ve got these essentials, don’t forget to get your sponsors on board to help raise money for this fantastic cause.

1.FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU!

Social media is ideal for some inspo! If you have a favourite celeb or sports person in mind, that’s a good start, or alternatively you can research what the trends are for 2022/2023. Or why not go full comedy mode and find the most extreme – handlebars anyone?

2. GET THE RIGHT TOOLS

If you’re committing to a moustache, it makes sense to have the right tools for the job. A decent pair of beard or hair trimmers should do the job. This allows you to keep the hairs at your preferred length and to trim them down to prevent a bulky appearance. It’s ideal for keeping stray hairs at bay and tackling any wayward ones that can sit on the lip and ruin your look.
If you have a trimmer already, then the shortest setting is ideal, but if you are looking to invest in a new one, find one that comes with interchangeable heads or guards. This helps with grooming and keeping your desired style in shape – it will make life easier that having to trim alone with scissors or trying with a razor.

FACE OR BEARD TRIMMERS

Most modern face trimmers feature state-of-the-art grooming technology and have been specially created for men’s facial hair styles and stubble. Look for one that has been specially designed to trim, edge, and shave any length of hair – one that follows the contours of the face allowing you to effectively and comfortably trim and shave all areas.

BEARD/ MOUSTACHE SCISSORS

Whether it’s your moustache that needs shaping, or a full blown beard, most mini moustache scissors can handle it! Designed with precision in mind, they are perfect for keeping flyaway hairs at bay – most pairs come with a handy comb, ideal for keeping facial hair neat and tidy. A grooming must have.

3. USE THE RIGHT PRODUCTS

MOUSTACHE WAX

The versatile properties of moustache wax make it the perfect tool for sculpting and tailoring your tash, allowing you to reshape and maintain your look all day long. Always apply sparingly and comb through after application to keep the shape looking on point.

These waxes are a pocket-sized go-to groomer to make on-the-go application easy as can be.
