Disappointed
2I've used the old formula of restore and renew day cream and it was brilliant, kept my skin soft and supple all day. The new formula is awful. My skin was very dry and have stopped using it. Why change a winning formula?

New formula is awful
1Have been using this product ever since it launched - lovely. Unfortunately I bought the new formulation without looking at reviews or trying it. It's awful. Both the day & night (the smell - yuk) versions just no longer do the job. I have been using my stock of 3 pots of each to make sure after seeing it could work after time. It doesn't. Will never buy No. 7 again.

Very pleasing texture
5I've been buying Boots No.7 creams for years and have worked my way through the 'ages'. I've been using this one for about four years, pre-dating and including the new formula, and I love it; I find it's easy to apply and is absorbed really quickly, the night cream feels particularly nourishing. The little balls etc. described in some of these reviews I have never experienced, but I only wear eye make-up and never use foundation or powder which may explain it, I also only apply the night cream to skin carefully cleaned. I will go on using it and I highly recommend it.

New to me
5I have read some terrible reviews of this product it was recommended by an assistant in store I can see why old customers are disappointed with the change as this is a very different moisturiser. I apply a little to each area massaging into my skin on every area then apply my boots stay perfect foundation on top it is not greasy so my make up looks perfect and my skin feels wonderful.

Put me off No7 moisturiser
1I’ve used No 7 moisturiser, in tandem with with their serum and eye creams, for years. I’ll stick with the serum and eye creams but I won’t be buying any more of the moisturiser, particularly the sort I need for ‘mature’ skin. Like other reviewers, I’ve found this one, like some of the others, just sits on top of the skin and then gathers into very visible little ‘balls’ that I’m constantly having to pick away. Not attractive!

Don't be put off
5Having run out of my previous batch of Restore and Renew day cream, I was hesitant to re-order after reading the negative reviews. A very helpful lady in the Matlock branch of Boots allowed me to try a sample and although it does feel very different on the skin, being a thicker consistency, it feels lovely. I use it daily and have had no allergic reaction from my very sensitive skin. Be prepared for it to feel different and just smooth it lightly onto the skin. I for one am not at all disappointed with the change in formula.

new formula produced allergic reaction
1Having used restore and renew since it came out I had no problems until the formula was changed. At first it was OK but then I had a burning sensation and now I have red patches and dryness all over my face. What have they put in the new formula? I am not the first to have this reaction it would appear.

This does not work.
1I have used this cream for several years and it has been excellent, however my latest purchase is a completely different story. It now has a very dense texture, is difficult to spread, leaves a thick shiny film on my face and make up just cakes and goes into little balls! Oh dear, I think Boots have lost my trust in their products as this does not work.

Awful!
1I had used this product for some years & was very happy with it, however it has changed drastically & I hate it. The cream is much thicker & is not readily absorbed by the skin. In addition, it gives a very tight feeling to the face & neck which is most uncomfortable. I will not be buying it again, but unfortunately I have three pots which cost almost £50. What a waste of money!!

It's different, but it's still good
4Agree with others that the formula is different; it's noticeably heavier and doesn't spread as easily. My biggest grumble is that a pot doesn't last as long as it used to. It takes more product to get the same coverage. I have had no problems at all applying make-up over it. I use a brush and damp sponge for foundation, and if anything I'm getting a better finish. On the whole it's still better than others I have tried, and it still represents good value for money - though not as good as it used to, hence the 4-star rating.
