Not Effective

1

I bought this product and used it for about a month. On a whole I don't think it's very moisturing at all. Regardless of the environment, my skin ended up being quite oily quite quickly, maybe even more so than it would usually be. When I was in the air conditioned office my skin would actually shine with oil. Not good at all. I've now switched to the anti-aging balm as I figured my skin was dry, and was making more oil to compensate. The anti-aging balm is actually leaving my skin in a better condition overall from day to day.

Great product, rubbish packaging

Personally I find this a great SPF moisturizer all year round. It sinks in well and leaves a fresh feeling on the skin.I'm not totally convinced by the smell, I prefer fresh smelling lotions (as opposed to the manly aftershave-like smells that No7 uses), but it wears off quickly once applied. My biggest gripe with this lotion is the bottle! It often spurts out quite large quantities of the product (even when going carefully, and when the bottle is still relatively full). I have often cut open the bottle to reveal a substantial amount of lotion remaining when I've been unable to get anything out the tube the conventional way. Boots I would have given this lotion 5 stars had it been packaged in a pot or pump bottle.

Does not mattify or help with oil control

3

I have been battling with oily skin and dry skin combined. I found oil controlling mositurisers left me dry and moisturising ones left me oily. I like the balance of this product as it is both moisturising but not heavy and oily. The energising scent, the protecting SPF, easy absorption, affordable, packaging which is simple and smart makes it a must buy. However, I didn’t find this much help on combating my oily skin and was not mattifying at all and still have shine after use, which to me is a big disappointment.

It's not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the reviews are slightly uncalled for?

I have used this product in the past, I like it, although it doesn't give you a oil free finish, no moisturizer can. I like the added SPF 15, as it give me protection from the sun. I believe this product is great for what it is, although they shouldn't call it Anti-Shine Lotion as it doesn't make your skin Anti-Shine free. I use Boots brand oil absorbs (Not sure of the name) to give me a oil free finish.

You've ruined a great product

1

I have used this product for years but now have to stop. Why have you changed the consistency of this product when you changed the packaging? It used to be thinner and be easily absorbed. Now it's sticky and thick. I hate it on my skin and it feels greasy - the exact opposite of what it is supposed to achieve. Please go back to the old formula and I will buy again. I need to return the unopened tubes that I have!

SPF15?!!!

1

This used to be a great product without the SPF15. Now it feels as though I’m applying sticky suntan cream. It’s now a thick, paste like substance and feels awful when being applied. It doesn’t go as far, I have to use three times the amount I used to and if you get it near the eyes, it makes them water. Before it spread easily, left the skin feeling fresh, non greasy and never caused irritation if I applied it close to the eyes. Now it does. Bought three of this and now want to return them. Seems boots has added SPF15 by default. I wouldn’t exactly call the UK a sunny, climate. if you want SPF15, supply it as a different option. Shame as I used the previous product for years and loved it. Now off to buy L'Oreal Expert Pure & Matte.

Not really a Moisturizer

2

I've tried many moisturizers before and hope to find one that keeps my face moisturized without making my face shiny. I have oily/combination skin which is supposedly the target buyers this product is aimed for. This anti-shine lotion does seem to reduce the shine but my face do feel very dry after putting it on. In fact, I believe that my skin would actually be more hydrated without putting this product on. The product claims to "absorbs excess oil, hydrates and refreshes". I can only agree that my skin do look less oily but its it certainly does not do what a moisturizer is supposed to do and hence the low rating.

Cosmetically excellent high protection sunscreen

5

After an abysmal experience with Boots Soltan sunscreens, I sought out a moisturiser with SPF in the hopes that it would have a more acceptable finish. This fit the bill! It has a light consistency and spreads easily. Like the Soltan range, it is completely transparent on skin with no "white cast" since there is no titanium dioxide or zinc oxide in it. I can use the full recommended amount, 1/4 teaspoon for the face and another 1/4 for the neck, without having to worry about looking like a ghost; it truly is invisible! Unlike the soltan sunscreens, it is fairly matte for a sunscreen. It is slightly shiny on application but dries down to an acceptable level to the point where I don't need to wear powder or blot my face. I'd put that down to the alcohol denat which is present in the product. That does mean it is slightly drying but nowhere near as drying as Asian sunscreens like Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence. It contains Octocrylene, Avobenzone, Tinosorb S and Octinoxate as filters, which covers the whole spectrum of UV rays. It also has close to an ideal ratio between SPF and UVAPF since it is rated 5 stars for its UVA protection. SPF 15 is acceptable for anyone who does not use photosensitizing products or has rosacea. If you are using AHAs or Retinol, use an SPF 30 product instead. As far as the claims go, it is not mattifying. It won't make you look oilier but it won't make you look less oily either. Use a primer or powder for that, I see this as a sunscreen. It moisturises enough to counteract the alcohol denat but those with drier skin types may want to use a light moisturiser underneath. The con is, it's far too expensive. I got it with a ÂŁ5 off voucher and I still think it's too expensive. You're supposed to use 1/4 teaspoon every day. A 5p ml bottle will only last 13 days if you use it properly and that's assuming you don't reapply! It's simply not economical as an everyday sunscreen, it would be cheaper to import an Asian sunscreen at this rate. But as nice as the Asian sunscreens are, they don't have UVA protection as good as 5 star rated UK sunscreens. Here's hoping Boots will formulate one of their Soltan sunscreens similarly to this one. All in all: lovely sunscreen, too expensive. The hunt for the perfect sunscreen continues!
