This is an appalling product for a mid range brand. It drags on the eye, is very difficult to apply and has no depth of colour once you do put your eyes through agony just to apply it. It's the way eye pencils used to be 40 years ago! Not acceptable boots, at all.

As with the "Dimorris" review, I also bought this in the shop without reading the reviews first. I can only conclude that the eyeliner has been improved since the bad reviews as I honestly cannot find any fault with it. I have tried and tested so many products over the last 30 years, cheap and premium brands to boot. This eyeliner is just as good, if not better than a premium brand I only bought last week. I have incredibly oily skin but this not only glides on beautifully with plenty of colour but it lasts hours. I have blue eyes and bought the brown which is a lovely dark chocolate colour. I will definitely be buying this again!

I bought this on spec at a Boots store before reading the reviews online. I don't know if this product has been changed within the last year or so as a result of the very poor reviews, but I can't fault it. It is just right for me - not so hard that it pulls at my eyes when I apply it, and not so soft that it smudges and spreads over my face. It also lasted all day, which is a first for any eye pencil I've used.

I was disappointed at first when choosing this product bc the one I wanted was out of stock in my color (black) but from the first time I used it - I LOVE IT!! this is much better than the other, No7 Stay Precise Felt tip liner I purchased (hate that one). I will be returning to the store of purchase to get the other color (Dark Brown)!!

i was big fan of no7 pencils-i have in few shadows, but my 4 recent buys let me down-one of my pencils has the end very hard, is difficult to apply and also for the other pencils the head has broken after one touch so sharpened for the first time and head was keep breaking. decided to not waist it, just sticked head to pencil and tried to use it but the head just gone inside... <wow> so used sharpener again...tried to use and head again gone inside...the pencil definitely was empty inside !!! same story has happened to 3 my other pencils recently bought...so unhappy. need to look for pencils other brands :(

I have to agree with all the other people, this product is awful, it will not write on eyelid over eyeshadow. I took this pencil back to the shop and the assistant said this was now a wax pencil which had to be warmed up so to do this one must keep rubbing it on the hand to make it work. I asked for it to be exchanged for a kohl pencil and the assistant told me No 7 no longer make a kohl pencil. As for warming it up. I don't have time to stand rubbing a pencil on my hand wearing it out as it works ok on my hand! Will buy a different brand in future.

I bought this pencil in brown to replace my usual daily eyeliner purely because it was on offer and No 7 make up is usually high quality. I hadn't read the reviews on here for the product but did when I got home and was very worried that I had just wasted my money. I have to say that I completely disagree with most of the reviews posted as I have found this to be a very effective eyeliner. It applies smoothly and defines the eyes perfectly with the colour showing up immediately. It doesn't crumble or break on sharpening as some eye liners do and so overall I am very happy!

I haven't read one good review on this so I played devil's advocate and bought one on the basis that I liked the look of it. The main criticism seems to be that it hard on the eyes. When I first used it I couldn't get it to work, however once I had rubbed the tip with a cotton wool, it actually went on easily, maybe it has a coating on it new? It probably helps to warm the tip between your lips for a few seconds. Secondly, I like the wood, or whatever it is? It looks like plastic the the good thing is that when you sharpen it it sharpens really cleanly unlike some woody ones which just seems to break the tip. The tip hasn't been blotchy and it has not crumbled yet so fingers crossed!
